More on the Lace Wars flats project

More On Flats ...

I'm not sure where I found these illustrations, but I will share them here with apologies if they only belong elsewhere ...

The header photo is from a test game we played, loosely following WRG's Horse Foot and Guns.

Let's politely call it a mixed success.  There is some work to do before it (or something like it) ticks all the boxes.  But I'd say the size of things was about right.

The smoke is decorative, but seems to make battles with gunpowder weapons look better (so will be given more of a purpose in game developments)

I think I will do some more experimenting with the bases, but stay with multi-figure stands, and I think we were OK with the basic DBA style base to base dice offs. Cavalry outcomes were swirling about, to say the least (but nothing that can't be fixed).

So this is 'Work in Progress' and the idea is to get to a point where there are 3 or more such (roughly) 12 element forces in play in a mini campaign where the battles take no longer than a DBA ancmed game, and where the significance is most meant to be revealed in the overblown memoirs of the Officers involved (the Munchhausen effect). Using the current basing, I have around 28 elements right now - though haven't quite completed the refurbs for all of them (hence we probably used 20 or so in the pre-trial ... ) ...
