According to World Health Organisation (WHO) reports for the week ended 5th July, there are 30 confirmed cases, 18 in Guinea, 9 in Sierra Leone and 3 in Liberia of Ebola virus.
The number of cases with unknown sources of infection is 5 out of 30 cases as there have been improvements to case investigations and contact tracing.
In Guinea, the 18 cases came from same 3 prefectures, Boke, Conakry, Forecariah that reported the cases in previous week.
Boke which borders Guinea Bissau had 6 cases; Conakry 1 case and Forecariah 9 cases.
In Sierra Leone, the 9 cases came from same 3 districts as previous week -Kambia, Port Loko and capital Freetown. 3 cases came from Magazine Wharf area of Freetown, 4 cases from Kambia and 2 cases from Port Loko.
For Liberia, there are 3 cases, two are contacts of the 17 year old male who first became ill on 21st June and died on June 28. The third case is showing signs of Ebola virus but has indeterminate test results for Ebola.
There have been 27, 573 reported confirmed, probable or suspected cases of Ebola in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia up to 5th July with 11, 246 reported deaths.
