Yep. One third of The Migos , Offset says social media is a gift and a curse, and is the reason people don't pass out at musicians shows anymore. He said this during his recent interview with Ebro, on Hot 97 FM.

"Social media is tricky little...it took away from artistry. Like, that's why Michael Jackson had folks crying passing out at his shows. People don't cry and pass out at shows no more...cos you see everything. It's a win and a loss. It take away from your artistry though."
I agree with him. Back in the 80s and early 90s, there was always a certain level of mystique surrounding your favorite musicians. They weren't as accessible as they are now, and that gave a lot of them a demigod kind of status. But now with social media, you know almost everything about your favorite musicians, and you see pictures and videos of them on social media almost on a daily to the point where they don't appear special to you anymore. That's why artists like Jay Z and Beyonce try as much as possible to limit the level of engagement they have with fans on social media.
