Ciara's "That's How I'm Feelin'" - Song Review

Get ready to bust out your best 1, 2 step.

R&B songstress Ciara is preparing for the upcoming release of her sixth studio album, Jackie (May 4), by sharing the anticipated album's only featured collaboration. "That's How I'm Feelin'", featuring additional rap verses from Pitbull and Missy Elliott, is a fast-paced, energetic, dancefloor anthem that immediately becomes a front runner for the coveted song of the summer.

If released as an official single, which it should be, the new track will follow in the footsteps of "I Bet", a somber R&B ballad, and showcase the impressive range the artist is tackling on the project. The song wastes no time in tapping into a club-like energy as Ciara sings of not being easy, but tonight she might just go home with the one who catches her eye. "I don't drink but I might take a few shots for the night, I might get messed up but at least I'll be feeling just right," she sings.

While Ciara could have certainly handled "That's How I'm Feelin'" on her own, it is a smart move to add the talents of Pitbull and Miss Elliott into the mix. Pitbull actually delivers a commendable performance, which only fans the fire, never to extinguish it. However, it is Missy Elliott who steals the spotlight this time around. She's stepped away from the scene, but her flow has not lost its impressive impact.

The new track is a seductive, carefree release, one that should be the soundtrack for anyone's Saturday night and brings Ciara back into her comfort zone after a publicized break up and the birth of her child. The song has some flare, it has some sass and is simply a fun tune to dance the night away to.

"That's How I'm Feelin'" is definitely a different sound than the album tracks we've already heard, but that's exactly why it stands out for the right reasons. With a vocal performance from Ciara that highlights a playful sex kitten character, the new track is perfectly tailored to dominate radio airwaves and the nearest nightclub dancefloor. Having Pitbull and Missy certainly doesn't hurt.
