Fashion weeks can be exhausting and its hard to know which shows to review and which to leave....so I've devised this, BITE SIZED NYFW! It's a basic run through of knowledge on who did what with what so that you no longer need to worry about the collections and worry about what opinion to have on them. I've rounded up the best in press reporting, basic imagery to give you a feel for the collection and also sliced in a few bits myself as well. It literally is, bite sized reviews on a few different shows. This will be appearing in a few different fashion weeks so we can cut down on the massive amount of information that is out there. But no worries though - the full length reviews will still be appearing alongside Bite Sized!
So lets begin...three days into New York Fashion Week, we have....
LOUISE GOLDIN - Simple white and grey palette, inspired by music festivals and tennis. Design is simple and uncomplicated with easy to wear graphic styles. Cut away sections on dresses with models appearing as if they have just played a set!
PRABAL GURUNG - The first slice of color in an icy cold Spring selection at NYFW. Acid colors mixed with whites and pastel tones. All models wore a bright chalky pastel acid lip color. Inspiration was Marilyn Monroe so expect a 50s twist with a bit of a pop art nod creeping in. Experimental fabrics with PVC being used to create pencil skirts! Imagine Marilyn Monroe if she was alive today and possibly on acid!!!! Also roses featured quite a bit!
L.A.M.B - Bright splashes of color, floral prints reveal a softer side of the L.A.M.B designer, Gwen Stefani, a more laid back collection then previous years, a lot of the pieces are extremely wearable, 50s inspired sunglasses mixed with a sports vibe to accessories, there have been more a few digs at this collection in the press stating that it isn't exactly pushing the boundries and also that the punk element that is usually present in L.A.M.B collections is sorely missed. Orange is a key color. I find it very Topshop and not much else.
